Fourth of July Deadliest Day on American Roadways
Independence Day is statistically the deadliest day to be on the road. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that on average, 118 deaths will occur across America. Twenty-six motorcyclists will die, more than double the number of motorcycle riders who perish in accidents on an average day. There are several factors for this spike in traffic accident deaths, but the major ones include crowded roadways, drivers driving in less familiar areas, higher than average motorcycle traffic, failure to wear helmets, and of course, increased alcohol consumption. Every motorist should be extra vigilant and drive defensively.
