What causes a concussion?

A concussion is caused by a sudden acceleration and deceleration of the head. The brain sits inside the skull and is surrounded by cerebral spinal fluid. When a force, like an auto accident or a fall, causes the head to move forward or backwards or side-to-side violently the brain doesn’t move immediately. It lags behind and then it slams against the opposite side of the skull causing bruising, bleeding, and sometimes nerve disruption.
